The transportation of dangerous goods in containers differs significantly from that of non-dangerous goods. When transporting dangerous goods in containers, shippers must apply clear, permanent cargo markings to the exterior of the cargo and provide any applicable laws, regulations, and documentation required by the carrier.

1. When accepting dangerous goods such as explosive, flammable, radioactive, corrosive, harmful, or toxic materials, the carrier may only proceed upon receiving a written application from the shipper specifically requesting the transport of such goods.
2. The carrier or its agent may, at any time and in any place prior to discharge, unload, destroy, or render harmless any flammable, explosive, or other dangerous goods loaded without prior knowledge of their nature, without liability for compensation. The owner of such goods shall be liable for all direct or indirect damages and expenses arising from such goods.
3. If the carrier is aware of the nature of the goods and agrees to load them, but there is a possibility that they may pose a hazard to the vessel or other cargo during transport, the carrier may likewise unload the goods at any location, destroy them, or eliminate the hazard without incurring any liability.
Therefore, when shipping dangerous goods, the shipper shall ensure:
1. Providing detailed information regarding the dangerous goods;
2. Providing transportation precautions and preventive measures;
3. Complying with all requirements regarding the transportation, storage, and loading/unloading of dangerous goods;
4. The exterior of the cargo packaging shall bear clear, permanent markings;
5. For full container load (FCL) shipments, the exterior of the container (on all four sides) must be affixed with danger labels.
